The program helps New Hampshire municipalities offset some of the cost of managing New Hampshire's prohibited upland invasive plants and restricted upland invasive plants.
Interested municipalities can apply annually for a partial reimbursement of the cost of herbicides purchased during the current calendar year. The reimbursement amount is determined following review of all eligible submissions and by availability of funds.
The Department emphasizes the importance of utilizing an Integrated Vegetative Management (IVM) approach for the management of upland invasive plants. IVM is ecosystem-based and incorporates mechanical, cultural, biological, and/or chemical means to reduce invasive plant populations. Protecting native plant diversity is part of an effective control program.
The eligible municipality ensures responsible herbicide use by applicators compliant with state pesticide laws and requirements.
